This page is a glossary of terms to help you become familiar with the Advanced Analytics Module. AAM uses different verbiage than the rest of the Projector product. So you may find this a useful place to build a mental map of how the two systems work together.

NameDescription
AliasWhen a dashboard is published, it must be given a unique alias. The alias is used as a reference so that Projector Web can show data from AAM.
AttributeA column type in a data set. Attributes describe numbers. For example, if a resource works three hours then your number is three and your attribute is the resource's name. Generally speaking, row fields in Projector reports should map to Attributes. Dates and times are also attributes.
ConnectorPre-built connections for getting data into AAM. Each data source in your installation has a connector type. For example, a Projector, Salesforce, or Google connector.
DashboardEach dashboard is composed of dashlets. The dashlets show views from your reports.
DashletA dashlet shows information on a dashboard. Typically tied to views in a report. Can also show other things like custom content or RSS feed.
Data sourceA saved means of getting data into a data set. For example, a Salesforce data source pulls in your opportunities. Can be scheduled so that your data is regularly updated.
Data setA database of information. Each column of data is either an attribute or indicator. It is then populated with rows of data.
Drill down pathDefine the way data is displayed. For example, view hours broken down by client, engagement, and finally resource. You can reorder the drill down to whatever you want.
Filter (Variable)Reports can optionally have filters. These filter the data in every view on a report. Filters can be specified in Projector to limit access to displayed data from Projector Web.
Formula IndicatorUsed in reports, formula indicators derive their value by performing operations on indicators. For example, Utilization = Hours Worked / Hours Supposed to Work.
Import TemplateWhen data is pulled into AAM, the template defines which indicators and attributes that data should be loaded into. It is also where you can manipulate data on import via transformation scripts.
IndicatorA column type in a data set. Indicators are your numbers. For example, if a resources works three hours then your indicator values is three. Generally speaking, data fields in Projector reports should map to indicators.
