Error - Task cannot be indented because linked to engagement milestone

When indenting a task you may receive the following error. Task(s) cannot be indented because it would result in a parent task that is linked to one or more engagement milestones.

 

This error is thrown because you have a milestone task that is linked to a billing milestone. A task underneath it cannot be indented. Reason being, that would make the milestone task a parent and subject to % complete measurements. As milestone tasks are binary, either done or not done, we don't allow % complete.

 

Create a New Parent Task

Use a different for the child.

Solution 1

  • Original Task
  • New Parent Task
    • New Task

Remove the Billing Milestone

Go to the Engagement Contract tab and remove the task from the associated milestone.
